WTO chief appeals to Kenya to do away with trade barriers

The WTO or World Trade Organization has requested Kenya to lead the removal of trade barriers that affect the East African Community this is a result of the weakening of the global trade negotiations. If this would be pushed through there would definitely be an increase within the regional business.
Pascal Lamy, WTO director-general, stated that the eradication of the trade barriers would bring a competitive advantage to Kenya in the international trade.
This is a result of the Doha Round that started in Qatar ten years ago, with the same goal which is to diminish trade barriers all over the world.
After the Doha Round meeting, the next talk happened just three years ago in Geneva. This said assembly ended hopes of having a deal to open global markets, slash farm subsidies and support the international trading system. China, India, and the US fell short and failed to compromise over ways of protecting the farmers in many poor countries.
A week ago, Mr. Lamy specified that the hope of developing countries getting higher access to rich consumers in the US, Europe and Japan for all their farm products and other things for their basic industries was way off.
Nevertheless, if Kenya and the rest of the East Asian Community member countries decide to get rid of all the barriers that are delaying trade within the bloc, then there is still hope for the said countries.
